Iowa PBS Films at Borlaug Farms

CRESCO - On July 30, the Norman Borlaug Heritage Farms, located south of Cresco, welcomed Kelsey Kremer and her camera and sound man Mark,  from Iowa PBS for a day of filming as part of the Road Trip Iowa television series. Throughout the day, the crew captured the beauty, history, and legacy of the farms while highlighting Norman Borlaug's remarkable impact on agriculture and his lasting influence around the world. The episode is expected to air this coming spring on Iowa PBS.
The day began with an interview featuring Tom Spindler and filming at Norman Borlaug's Boyhood Farm. A lunch was generously provided by V & V Insurance, with pork loins donated by Gary Gassett and prepared by Mary and Luke Riecks. After lunch, the crew continued filming the traditional julenek bundling demonstration. During this time, special guests Floyd and Kathy Hammer from The Outreach Program hosted a display featuring the food packaging materials used during Inspire Days each fall and spring, giving the film crew an opportunity to showcase another important aspect of the Norman Borlaug Heritage Foundation's mission. The day concluded with aerial drone footage of the farms, capturing the landscape and gathering the final shots needed for the upcoming episode.
