Cadet XC girls nab first at Osage Meet

OSAGE - The Crestwood Varsity Girls’ cross country team placed six individuals among the top 20 to help the Cadets grab first place in the team standings with 37 points. Forest City was second with 43 points.
In the Varsity Girls’ race, Ava Witt of St. Ansgar took first place with a time of 20:22.5. Crestwood senior Lexus Dohlman nabbed second in a season best time of 20:28.0, and teammate Jaclyn Cummings was third in 21:25.0. Livia McCabe was fifth in 21:44.7. Claire Kach was 12th in 22:36.4. Ava Daley placed 18th in 23:10.5 and Taylor Reis was 19th in 23:22.2.
In the Junior Varsity girls’ race, Amberlena Lopez placed second in 23:54.8. Ella Dennler was eighth in a season best time of 25:12.9. Bryleigh Slavin was ninth in a season best time of 25:53.9. Brooklynn Doda was 10th in a personal best time of 26:42.5.
In the JV boys’ race, Karson Latwesen placed 27th in 25:47.
In the Varsity Boys’ race, Forest City won the team title with 24 points and Lake Mills was second with 85 points. Crestwood placed ninth with 199 points.
Cadet senior Keaton Vobr placed 15th in a season best time of 18:48.3, and Alix Musus placed 36th in a personal best time of 20:30.8. Grant Gayther of Forest City was first at 16:58.
In the Junior High Girls’ race, Crestwood won the team title with 33 points. Ella Ellingson finished sixth in 14:24.4. Nevie Lickteig was eighth in 14:31. Charli Fritcher-Larson was ninth in 14:33.7.
In the Junior High Boys’ race, Jack Sovereign took 15th place in 13:10.4. Luther Govern placed 90th in 25:53.8.
Crestwood Head Coach Karen Steffen noted the highlights from the meet.
“We had five of our eight boys run a personal record (PR) again!” Steffen said. “Keaton Vobr medaled in 15th place.
“We had four girls medal on Varsity - Lexus (2nd), Jaclyn (3rd), Livia (5th), and Claire (12th). We also had eight girls win JV medals! Our Varsity girls were team champions over 5th ranked Forest City.
“The middle school also ran very well. Jack Sovereign placed 15th for MS boys. We had four MS girls medal - Ella Ellingson (6th), Nevie Lickteig (8th), Charli Fritcher-Larson (9th), and Kinleigh Olsen (12th). The MS girls were also team champions,” Steffen said.
