July 26, 2026

Anita Marie Brandt was born the fourth child out of six to John and Amanda (Thies) Brandt on March 6, 1935 in rural Bremer County, Iowa.
Anita was hired by widower Corwin Goodman to be a nanny to his three young children; Allen age 5, Michael age 3 and Marie age 2. After about one year Anita became very attached to the children and Corwin felt in his heart Anita was his presence and future, an answer to his prayers. They were married on September 1, 1961. Two more children were added to the family; Brian and Doris.
Anita was a very faithful, diligent and hardworking farmer’s wife. She had a huge vegetable garden. She canned and froze much of her own produce and was a wonderful baker. Baking breads, cinnamon rolls, pies, cakes and cookies; always making sure to have your favorite sweet treat prepared if she knew you were coming for a visit. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, knitting and crocheting; she was very talented with her needle work. Anita was very active as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher in the Saratoga Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Church group, where she enjoyed time with the church women creating quilts for missions.
On July 26, 2026 at the age of 91, Anita was rewarded for her faithful work, with rest in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. She is now young again and walking-running on the streets of gold.
Anita is survived by her children: Allen (Donna) Goodman of Sierra Vista, AZ, Michael (Suzanne) Goodman of Ventura, CA, Marie (Randy) Hinz of Lexington, SC, Brian Goodman of Lime Springs, IA and Doris (Mark) Brosz of Andover, KS; younger brother Edward Brandt of Waverly, IA; nine grandchildren: Aaron Goodman, Michael (Amy) Goodman, Brian (Wendy) Hinz, Jennifer (Kevin) McIver, Laura (Kyle) Ott, Matthew (Elaina) Goodman, Sharon (Jacob) Venenga, John Brosz and Elizabeth Brosz; twelve great-grandchildren: Meaghan, Connor, Logan, Maggie, Anderson, Caleb, Katelyn, Emily, Madison, Samantha, Caleb and Alyssa; along with many nieces and nephews.
