CRESCO - Cale Jackson, age 23, died on August 4, 2024 due to injuries sustained in an accident.
Cale a.k.a “Dale” Jackson was born to Chad and Pamela (McGrane) Jackson on August 29, 2000 in Cresco, IA. He attended Notre Dame Elementary and graduated from Crestwood High School in 2019. In high school, he wrestled and was part of the first team to qualify for the Iowa State Wrestling Team Duals. He was very proud to be a part of that with his team. He attended Kirkwood Community College in the automotive mechanic program for one year and decided he wanted to come back home to Cresco. He started work immediately at Hanson Tire Service, where he brought his energy and shenanigans to his coworkers, while wearing his mischievous grin and giggle. He was excited to be doing what he loved. It’s been described to us by many people (including customers) that Cale always greeted them with a smile to remember and a positive attitude.
Cale was kind and caring. He would drop everything to help anyone and always did it with a great sense of humor. He was upbeat and could talk to anyone. He knew how to put a smile on your face. He liked to be a prankster, which made him even more lovable. But he was also a straight talker, so you knew what he thought. Cale was an incredibly hard worker who always wanted to be busy. He always liked having some sort of action whether it was physical or researching something to keep his brain in high gear. Cale loved working on cars or anything technical from a very young age. If he didn’t know how to fix it, his curiosity kept him going until he found the answer. He also liked to “invent” his own devices to make the gadgets he wanted.
Cale enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He took every chance he could to play a game of euchre, bags, golf, kayak, go camping, snowmobile, play video games, (really almost anything that came up).
Cale made a point to come home to spend time with his brothers, Drew and Ben, several times a week. They would chat, giggle, play video games, hit golf balls, or watch silly videos that made them laugh. They seemed to have their own language.
He loved listening to music, especially music from the 1970s-early 2000s, no rap (with the exception of very few songs). He was his own DJ and enjoyed messing around on Spotify making playlists, as long as 66 hours in length.
Cale is survived by his parents Chad and Pam Jackson, brothers Drew and Ben Jackson, girlfriend Taylor Waterbeck, grandparents: LaVern “Mac” McGrane, Robert “Oscar” (Patty) Jackson and Mary Jarvis, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandma Donna McGrane.
Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30am on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco. A visitation was held from 3-7:00pm on Friday, August 9, 2024 at the church. Schmelzer (formerly Lindstrom) Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
