CANTON - Charlotte G. LaBonne, age 82, of Canton, Minn. died on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Caledonia Rehab and Retirement.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel with a farewell meal to follow at the American Legion, 114 N. Main Street, Mabel.

Charlotte was born on Oct. 26, 1938 in Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minn. to Martin and Gilma (Treangen) Dragvold.  She went to school in  Blackhammer and Houston. 

On Sept. 17, 1964, she married William LaBonne. They lived in Monroe Center, Ill. until 1982, when they moved to Minnesota City, Minn. where they owned and operated the Palomino Bar. 

Charlotte had worked at Grant’s in LaCrosse, Wis. They moved to rural Harmony, Minn., where they had a hobby farm with numerous animals and gardens for over 10 years. She also owned and operated LaBonne’s Drive-In in Harmony for a short time.  They then moved to Canton. Bill passed away on April 18, 2018. 

Charlotte enjoyed playing Bingo and gambling, baking, her flowers and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charlotte is survived by two children, Julie of Rushford, Minn. and Rick (Diane Dungy) of Harmony; grandchildren, Jesse (Matt Engen), Nikki (Jordan Klemp), April, Shawnee, Mercede, and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Laiten and Lexi Engen and Wyatt and Veyda Charlotte Klemp; and two sisters, Marlene Morken of Spring Grove, Minn. and Linda Gorder of Peterson, Minn.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; two sisters, Helen Valadez and Evelyn Jonak; and a brother, Gerald Dragvold.
