Gladys Ferrie, 88

On February 27, 2024, Gladys Georgene (Frana) Ferrie, 88, of Harmony, MN, passed away peacefully at the Gundersen Harmony Care Center. 
Gladys was born in Elma, IA,to George and Cecelia (Kuhn) Frana. She attended and graduated from Riceville School. She married the love of her life, Ray Ferrie, in Lourdes, IA on August 10, 1954. The couple then bought their farmhouse outside of Kendallville, IA. 
Gladys worked for HECO in Harmony, MN for about ten years. Her working career continued at Kum & Go in Cresco, IA for over twenty years.  This was by far her favorite job, working alongside her daughter, Nancy. She loved making the morning donuts. Following her time at Kum & Go, she worked for Harts Bakery in Decorah, IA for a few years before retiring.
Gladys spent much of her time homemaking, cooking, and taking care of children. Some of her favorite hobbies included playing BINGO, traveling nationally and internationally, league bowling and bribing people with quarters to dance with her. She was also a Charter member of the Midwest Sad Iron Collectors Club, now PITCA, and traveled many places and met many special people while in the club. She collected all things Sad Iron or laundry related and had over 10,000 items in her collection. She found most of her enjoyment when her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren would come to visit, or winning big at gambling with friends or family. 
Gladys is survived by sons: Kenny (Carol), Kevin and Roger (Kari), daughters-in-law Cindy Ferrie and Ann Ferrie, fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, sister Eileen (Pat) Sweeney, brother David (Jackie) Frana and sister-in-law Connie (Dallas) Bestor. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, sons Dean and Russell, daughters Nancy Dieter and Amy Ferrie, daughter-in-law Deb Ferrie, granddaughter Jazmon Boose, great granddaughter Nadja Carr, mother and father George and Cecelia Frana, brother Lawrence “Bud” Frana and sisters: Leona (Joseph) Stortz, Sylvia (Raymond) Hayek and Marie (Alvin) Mashek.
The family of Gladys Ferrie would like to extend a sincere Thank You for the kindness and generosity you have all shown through this tough time. 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco, IA. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of services on Monday morning at the church. Burial will take place at the Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Lindstrom Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
