CRESCO - John E. “Jack” Smith, age 82, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Regional Health Services of Howard County on Aug. 16, 2021, surrounded by his family.
At his request, there will be no services.
Jack was born on Nov. 13, 1938 to Irene (Rethamel) and Francis Smith. He was the fourth of 13 children.
On Jan. 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Good of Bluffton, Iowa at our Lady of Lourdes Church in Lourdes, Iowa. The couple made their home in the Cresco area all of their 62 years together.
Jack was known for his sense of humor and gift of gab. He will be truly missed by family and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife, Norma; his five children, Kathi of Cresco, Dan of Cresco, Lisa of Lourdes, Michelle of New Hampton, Iowa and Matt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grand- children; five brothers; and six sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy; and a grandson, Justin.
