Judith Ann “Judy” Reicks was born on December 15, 1959, daughter of Cleo and Catherine (Riniker) Reicks in Cresco, Iowa. Judy attended parochial school until the 6th grade, and graduated with the class of 1978 from Crestwood High School. While working at Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. in Cresco, Judy caught the eye of her coworker, Steve Bohr. She fit seamlessly with Steve and his 4 children, Ann, Lisa, Brian, and Michelle. On February 22, 1992, Judy married Steve at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cresco. They welcomed their daughter, Whitney, who completed their family.
Judy had a mind for numbers and worked several bookkeeping jobs over the years. Besides Spahn & Rose, she also kept books for L & S Masonry, and Doug Reicks Trucking LLC. She had her own unique style of bookkeeping, never missing an item. Her family teased that she could find anything in her organized chaos. She was a “Mother Hen” to her brothers, always keeping an eye on them, and helping out whenever she could. Judy’s biggest and favorite job was taking care of her husband, Steve.
Judy enjoyed the farm life. She liked being outside mowing the lawn on her John Deere rider, planting and tending her many flower gardens and vegetable garden, filling the birdfeeders, feeding the farm cats, and tending to her chickens. During the holiday season she was known to stay up all night wrapping Christmas presents and cooking a feast for her family. The entire family looked forward to her ham balls (only take 5 the first serving) and Hershey chocolate brownies. Judy adored her grandchildren. She loved taking them on summer trips before school started and attending all their school events. Her unconditional love made a huge impression on them.
Judy is survived by her husband Steve Bohr of Cresco; 5 children Ann (David) Retterath of Charles City, Iowa, Lisa (Ryan) Johnson, Brian (Jamelle) Bohr, Michelle (Josh) Geiselhart, and Whitney (Cody) Bergan all of Cresco; 14 grandchildren Collin, Tyler, and Michael Retterath; Hailey (fiancé Jacob Hayes) Johnson, Monique (Anthony) Goins, and Carter Johnson; Olivia and Addison Bohr; Dylin, Blake, Cameron, and Jaxson Kuhn; Arianna Bergan, and McKennah Clark; 1 great granddaughter Isabelle Retterath; sister Carla (Tim) Richert of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 3 brothers John Reicks of Cresco, Joe Reicks of Iowa City, Iowa, and Doug Reicks of Cresco; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother in infancy, and father and mother-in-law Linus and Evelyn Bohr, and her dog Calli.
