Cedar Falls - Kathleen Anne Holcomb (Kathy Lorenzo), 61, returned to live with her Heavenly Father June 6, 2017. There, she was greeted by her father, Frank Lorenzo; maternal grandparents, Dwight and Marie (Melvin) Perrine; and paternal grandparents, Frank and Helen (Levickas) Lorenzo.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10 at St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic School in Cedar Falls. Condolences may be left at www.richardsonfuneralservice.com.
Kathy was born Feb. 21, 1956 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Lynne Lorenzo. She graduated from Crestwood High School, Cresco, in 1974. She attended St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn. and then transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for her final three years. She graduated in 1978 with her BSE. She taught sixth grade in Bellevue, Iowa and then in Gilbertville, Iowa. She really enjoyed teaching Religious Education at St. Patrick’s School in Cedar Falls, which she did for a number of years.
Kathy met Greg Holcomb while they were students at UNI and were married July 21, 1979. They have resided in Cedar Falls since that time.
Kathy’s hobbies included reading, writing poetry, working with kids, mentoring her young nieces and, at the time of her death, she was trying to complete a novel she was writing.
Survivors include her husband, Greg; mother, Lynne (Perrine) Lorenzo of Cresco; brother, Rick Lorenzo of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister, Sue (Lorenzo) Larson of Hillsboro, Wis.; brother, Steve Lorenzo of New York City; niece, Cassie (Joe) Lorenzo-Krancki of London, U.K.; niece, Erica Lorenzo of Ashland, Ore.; niece, Ellie Lorenzo of Cedar Rapids; grandniece, Kensal Krancki of London; and grandnephew, Parker Krancki of London.
