CRESCO - A stellar effort on both sides of the line of scrimmage lifted the Crestwood varsity football team to an impressive 32-16 homecoming win over the Waukon Indians on Friday, Sept. 27. The win improved the Cadets’ district mark to 2-0 and 2-3 overall.
The Cadets will host Osage on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Crestwood racked up an impressive 332 yards rushing and added 36 yards through the air against the Indians. Waukon tallied only 124 yards rushing and 52 yards passing.
“This game was won up front,” Cadet Head Coach Justin Denner said. “Our offensive and defensive lines both played outstanding. Our line created a lot of big holes for Aidan Skoda and Brock Voyna (to run through) and gave us time to throw the bal. However, we didn’t need to throw the ball that much. We’ve still got to get better. We had a few penalties that killed some drives.”
Denner noted that Crestwood’s defense did a great job holding the Indians in check.
“(Assistant Coach) Kolby LeFebvre made some great adjustments during the week leading up to the game and we took advantage of opportunities. We knew (Waukon quarterback) Jaxon Brinkman was going to throw some balls that might be higher or lower and we took advantage of that. We won the turnover battle, which was huge," Denner said.
