FOREST CITY - The Crestwood varsity football team raced to a 21-0 first quarter lead and sailed to a 42-7 victory over Forest City on Friday, Sept. 26 on the road.
The win improved Crestwood’s overall record to 3-2 and 2-0 in Class 2A District 3. Crestwood, Osage and Waukon are all tied forst first in the district with 2-0 records. The Cadets will play North Fayette Valley (1-4, 0-2) in West Union on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Crestwood Head Coach Justin Denner was ecstatic to see the Cadets jump out to a big lead early against the Forest City Indians on Friday.
“Similar to last week, we stressed to our guys that we wanted to start the game as fast as we could,” Denner said. “We knew there were a few things we could take advantage of in the passing game, height-wise, and we were able to do that, which was awesome.
“Our running game was great but we still have a lot of things we can improve. Jose Lievano ran the ball really well and when he needed a break, Ethan Bergan came in and ran well. Our offensive line has taken some big steps. (Quarterback) Tate Cummings did a great job of filling in for Alex Loden. Tate threw the ball very well," the coach said.
