Katie Saner sets new mark in 200 dash at Waukon meet

WAUKON - The Crestwood girls’ track team competed well in several events on Tuesday, April 25 at the Waukon Invite, including sophomore Katie Saner setting a new school record in the 200 dash in a time of 25.94 seconds.

Squaring off against strong teams at the Waukon Invite, the Cadet girls’ track team placed fourth overall with 86 points.

Katie Saner won gold in the 100 (12.69) and the 200 (25.94). Hope Dohlman took second in the 1500 in 5:11. The 4x800 team of Emily Friesen, Rachel Steffen, Brynn Bodermann and Dohlman placed second in 10:32.

“We competed well against some very good competition,” Cadet Coach Jim Obermann said. “We experimented with some different athletes in some different events and they performed well. The girls did a good job overall.

“Katie Saner re-established her school record in the 200 dash. She had a great night, and she’s running very well. Hope Dohlman had a personal record in the 1500, and Brynn Bodermann ran well in the half-mile event. Our sprinters are also getting better,” the coach said.
