FORT DODGE - Crestwood junior Lexus Dohlman ran an impressive time of 19:30.8 to grab 12th place and earn an individual medal at the Class 2A State Cross Country Meet held at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge on Friday, Oct. 30.
Crestwood’s Livia McCabe placed 65th in a time of 20:55.3, and teammate Jaclyn Cummings was 69th in 20:57.1.
As a team, the Cadets placed 11th out of 15 teams with 236 points. Mid-Prairie Wellman won the Class 2A Girls’ Team Title with 85 points. Treynor was second with 120 points and West Marshall took third with 143 points.
Mary Grace Lyons of Monticello earned first place individually in 18:06.6. The top 15 individuals earned medals and the top three teams won trophies at State.
“That's a wrap on the 2026 season - What a finish!” Crestwood Head Coach Karen Steffen said. “Coach Berland and I are super proud of the effort from each of the girls and how well they competed. We had a great support crew travel with us to cheer on our girls at State. The weather was ideal for running.
“Our seniors: Taylor Reis, Ava Daley, and Mea Shelton all had a great finish to their cross country careers. All three of them ran their season best time at the State Meet.
“Claire Kach ran her second best time of the season - her goal was to be under 22 minutes (21:55). Jaclyn Cummings ran her third best time of the season and got some really good experience as a ninth grader.
“Livia McCabe was only three seconds off her PR (personal record) and once again pulled through for us with a great race.
“Lexus Dohlman was only 0.4 seconds off her PR. She showed some true grit and determination to finish in 12th place and bring home a medal," Steffen said.
