High speed chase ends in arrest

CRESCO - On Monday, Oct. 24, Jonathan Michael Tabbert, age 29, of Yukon, Okla. was clocked doing 103, with his four-way flashers on.
Tabbert was traveling north on Highway 63, when Officer Neil Daniels checked the speed, and turned around to attempt to stop the vehicle.
The 2021 dark-colored  Toyota Corolla turned east on Hwy. 9 toward Cresco. Daniels turned on his siren. His report noted he was unsure if there was an emergency or if the person was eluding the officer.
Approximately one mile west of Cresco, the vehicle began driving in the westbound lane forcing traffic to the shoulder. Daniels requested assistance from the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle ran the 3rd St. stop light and the Hwy. 9/139 stop sign, where he turned north.
The officer stated his own speed was 40-60 mph through Cresco. He did not get a speed on the offender.
Tabbert ended up stopping the vehicle on his own at Highway 139 and 325th St.  in Winneshiek County. Two dogs were taken to the Cresco Pound.
He was charged with Speeding (21 or over) in a 55 mph zone; Reckless Driving; Failure to Respond to Steady Red Light; Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device; Eluding — Injury, OWI, Drugs or Participate in Felony; and Possession of Controlled Substance — Marijuana 1st Offense.
Tabbert’s bond was set at $5,000 with $500 being acceptable.
