Howard County’s gift giveaway prizes awarded

Howard County - Howard County’s Christmas Gift Giveaway winners from Nov. 21-Dec. 22 have been listed. 

The grand prize winner of the gift drawing was Kris Moen of Cresco, who won $1,000 in gift certificates from participating businesses. 

Moen, who works at Rockwell-Collins, was surprised to get the phone call informing her of her good fortune. “[My coworker] Betty Reicks had given us some seasoned oyster crackers and a lottery ticket. I scratched and didn’t win. I joked that I hadn’t won the $1,000! When I got home there was a phone call for me! Wow! A shopping spree. I’m proud to spend it in Cresco.”

Second prize of $500 went to Phil Ollendieck, also of Cresco. 

“I was pretty surprised to hear that I won second prize,” Ollendieck said. “Now I can finish doing my Christmas shopping.”
