McGuire focusing on Iowan’s healthcare, quality of living

Cresco - For her entire life, Dr. Andy McGuire has wanted to help people. As an MD, she worked one-on-one with patients, figuring out what ailed them. As a case manager, she worked with groups of people. She then started writing policies to help even more individuals.
Now she is running for governor of Iowa to help an entire state full of young and old and everyone in-between.
She has been visiting all 99 counties to let constituents know she is listening.
She planned to meet with Democrats in Howard County on April 15, but the event was canceled because of weather. Organizers are hoping to reschedule.
As a doctor, one of McGuire’s main focuses is on health care — physical and mental. “Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. If you keep people healthy, then they don’t need Medicaid,” she explained. She feels by assisting people to keep healthy, it will help keep their future needs at a minimum.
She is also a fierce proponent of mental health issues, clean water and clean air. “Fifty percent of our waterways are impaired,” McGuire noted. She wants to handle the hot topics in a bi-partisan manner. “If we can just get everyone at the table to work together.” As it is now, everyone is ready to fight and not listen. “We need to find solutions,” she stated.
The gubernatorial candidate understands the issues of both urban and rural areas. That’s why she is visiting all of Iowa. “One size doesn’t fit all. Even one rural town doesn’t have the same issues as the next.”
Dr. Andy McGuire was born and raised in Waterloo and her husband, Dan, grew up in Holstein, Iowa. The couple has seven children and one grandson. To learn more about her goals, go to mcguireforgovernor.com or check her out on Facebook or Twitter.
