Fredericksburg, VA. - Noel Lyn Schmidt, age 50, of Fredericksburg, Va. passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital of colon cancer.
A Celebration of Noel’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 9, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elma, Iowa, with food and fellowship.
Noel was born Oct. 23, 1967 in Waterloo, Iowa and graduated from Osage (Iowa) High School in 1986. He graduated from Germanna Community College in Virginia and worked simultaneously for both Dean Rubin, CPA and Paul’s Bakery his entire life.
Having a brilliant mind, he was the genius behind the CPA’s computerization and bakery automation. He was also the brains and co-creator of the Paul’s Bakery Christmas light display seen annually at the business. If you could dream it, Noel could make it happen. His big heart and unending work ethic is probably why he has left us so young.
Noel is survived by his stepmother, Deb Fleming of Nashua, Iowa; stepfather, Gene Schwake of Waterville, Minn.; his brother, Evan (Laura) Schmidt of Chester, Iowa; sisters, Vonda (Tyrone) Jacoby of Mendon, Ill. and Misty (Jeff) Hobert of Nashua; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Max and Ava Schmidt Sr. and Kenneth and Mildred Evans; his mother, Bonnie Schwake; and his father, Edward Schmidt.
