One-vehicle roll-over on March 9

Rural Riceville - On Saturday March 9, 2019 at 10:34 a.m., the Howard County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one-vehicle rollover on Addison Ave. just south of 170th St.
Brenda Shrock, age 41, of Riceville was northbound on Addison Ave., driving a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, when she lost control on the slushy roadway and entered the east ditch, coming to rest on the vehicle’s top.
Ms. Shrock and her two daughters, ages nine and four, were lucky to avoid injuries.
Responding Howard County Deputy Sheriff Tim Beckman said, “The roads were absolutely horrible this weekend, especially north-south roads, due to blowing snow that melted and became slushy.  The state and county crews were out, and they did the best they could do.”
Assisting at the scene were Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, Riceville Fire Department, Riceville Ambulance Service and Nicholson Towing and Repair from Osage.
