Plantpeddler investing in Cresco

CRESCO - Plantpeddler in Cresco officially announced its $3 million expansion on Monday, June 17.
Mike and Rachel Gooder, and many of the contractors who will be working with Plantpeddler in their venture, attended the groundbreaking for the 100,000 square foot expansion.
He said, “It all started 39 years plus three days ago, on June 20, 1980 when Rachel and I married. Then a short eight days later, we started Plantpeddler. It’s emotional talking about what we’ve done.”
He noted Joe Wacha has been with the company the entire time. He also said Plantpeddler would not be the success it is without all of its valued employees.
Eighty percent of the new building at the Plantpeddler Young Plants (PPYP) Facility will be for the plant-growing space. The other 20% will be the support facility where the planting and propagating (making new plants) will take place.
This part of the master plan for the company is the second step of Phase 2.
Phase One Step One (P1S1) took place in 2000-2001. P1P2 was in 2005.
P2S1 took place over the past winter when internal retrofitting or renovation took place. New benches were built where plants could grow at waist height. P2S2 is adding more greenhouse structure.
Mike said the company wants to be ready to grow by Oct. 1, 2019. “We’re not doing this for us. We’re doing this for all you guys and Cresco,” he stated.
Plantpeddler stays with local contractors as much as it can, which helps keep the area thriving. Look for more on the expansion in the weeks to come.
