Cresco - Edward W. “Ed” Hovorka, age 77, died on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, Iowa with Father Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery at Schley, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at Notre Dame Parish, with rosary recited at 9:30 a.m.
Edward William Hovorka was born on Feb. 26, 1941, the son of Edward and Caroline (Pecinovsky) Hovorka in Howard County, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Ed enlisted into the United States Army. He worked for Donaldson Company in Cresco for 20 years. On Nov. 25, 2015, he married Laura (Kuennen) Lukes at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, Iowa.
Ed enjoyed taking care of his property and keeping a meticulous lawn. When he wasn’t outside, he liked watching western movies and M*A*S*H.
Ed is survived by his wife, Laura; a sister, Willomene Anderson; stepchildren, Theresa, Monica, Sarah, Laurie, Helen, Kenny, Kristie and Nancy; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Caroline; stepdaughter, Elizabeth; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Anderson.
