Myrna Ladwig, 80

CHESTER - Myrna Ann Ladwig, age 80, a resident of Chester, Iowa died at home on Saturday, April 20 after a long battle with cancer. 
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 25 at LeRoy (Minn.) Lutheran Church, from 5-8 p.m. 
The memorial service will also be at LeRoy Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, with Rev. Dan Christensen presiding. A luncheon will be served after the service in the church basement. Burial will be at Chester Hill Cemetery, Chester, at a future date.
Myrna was born on March 20, 1939, the daughter of Wilbert and Alta (Berodt) Hass, in Davenport, Iowa. She grew up outside Wheatland, Iowa and graduated from Wheatland High School in 1957. She then attended and graduated from airline school. She worked for Capital Airlines at National Airport (Reagan) in Washington, D.C., Grand Rapids, Mich. and Chicago, Ill. In 1958, she transferred to Ozark Airlines at Moline, Ill. until her marriage to Marvin Ladwig on Feb. 27, 1960 at United Church of Christ, Wheatland.
The couple farmed in Howard County, starting north of Lime Springs in 1961 and then moving south of Lime Springs in 1963. In 1966 they began farming on the Chester farm north of Marvin’s parents (Maynard and Ruth Ladwig). 
Myrna was elected to the Howard-Winneshiek school board at-large position in 1983 and served several years. She was active in many church and community organizations, including Chester Lutheran Church and Chester Hill Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Marvin Ladwig; children, Pamela (Craig) Nixon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Todd (Maria) Ladwig of Earlham, Iowa and Craig (Michelle) Ladwig of Waterloo, Iowa; sisters, Marlo Ferring of Chapin, S.C., Marian Ruggeberg of Lime Springs, Iowa and Karen (Dave) Sennett of Zapata, Texas; brother, Brian (Karen) Hass of Blue Grass, Iowa; grandchildren Michel (Matt) Gage, Sara (Chris) Maly, Scott Nixon, Thomas Ladwig, Elizabyth Ladwig, Jacob Ladwig, Travis Zika, Brittany Zika and Madison Zika; and great-grandchildren, Tanner and Tyson Gage, Shelton, Katherine (KJ) and Cole Schmidt, Devon and Madison Maly, Nina White, Seth Silas and RaeLynn Nixon; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald (Jerry) Hass; brothers-in-law, Ron Ferring and Darrell Ruggeberg; and grandson, Todd Nixon.
