CRESCO - Rita Henderson, age 87, of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Regional Health Services of Howard County.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco with burial in Calvary Cemetery at Cresco. Friends may call on Sunday, March 24 from 3-5 p.m. at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, where there will be a 5 p.m. Scripture Service and at the church on Monday for an hour prior to services.
Rita M. Henderson was born on Oct. 26, 1931 in Reedsburg, Wis. She attended school in Ironton, Wis. and graduated from high school in Wonewoc, Wis.
Rita married Kenny Henderson in Reedsburg, on May 16, 1953. They adopted their two children, Dave and Jeff, while living in LaCrosse, Wis. They later moved to Cresco, where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Over the years Rita worked at HECO in Harmony, Minn., Cresco State Bank and Skelgas until 1989, when she retired. During retirement, she and Kenny enjoyed spending winters in McAllen, Texas.
Rita enjoyed camping with her family, sewing and cooking. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by two sons, Dave (Joelle) Henderson of Altoona, Iowa and Jeff (Tammy) Henderson of Cresco; five grandsons, Kyle (Amber) Henderson of Granger, Minn., Matt (Ashley) of West Union, Iowa, Jeremy Henderson of Des Moines, Iowa, Noah Henderson of Hampton, Iowa and Nathan Henderson (Hannah) of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenny; and all of her siblings, Cyril, Earl and Lila.
