LIME SPRINGS - Roger J. Foote, 73, of Lime Springs, Iowa passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, surrounded by his family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Friday morning. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lime Springs Community Center following services at the church. Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Roger John Foote was born on Feb. 27, 1946 in Cresco, Iowa to Floyd and Eva (Nicoll) Foote. He attended country schools through eighth grade and graduated from Cresco High School in 1964. He then hauled milk with his dad for the Cresco Creamery. 

On Aug. 12, 1965 he married Donna Gates, and they were blessed with two children, Shelley and Steve.

Roger worked and later managed Thermogas in Lime Springs. After working there, he was fortunate to retire.

He enjoyed NASCAR, the Minnesota Vikings and going to many of the grandkids’ motorcross races.

Roger never met a stranger and always had a beer for everyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Roger is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna; a daughter, Shelley (Dan) Bolton of Farmington, Minn.; a son, Steve (Kerre) Foote of Cresco; grandchildren, Caleb (Missy) Bolton, Evan (Patty) Bolton, Ashlea (Jeremy) Anderson, Abbe (Dustin) Foote and Riley and Alle Foote; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Elinor Taylor of Ionia, Iowa and Connie (Roger) Ihrke of Elgin, Minn.; a brother, David (Vickie) of Fate, Texas; brothers-in-law, Dick (Carol) Gates of Cresco and David (Hazel) Gates of Lafayette, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Charlene Gates of Lime Springs. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
