CHARLES CITY - Crestwood girl golfers Ashley Voves (12th, score 104) and Hailey Panos (14th, 105) both earn All-Northeast Iowa Conference honors on Monday, May 8 at the NEIC meet. The Cadets placed sixth as a team at 443.
The team standings for the 18-hole meet are as follows: 1. New Hampton 350; 2. Decorah 414; 3 (tie). Charles City and Waukon 415; 5. Waverly-SR 425; 6. Crestwood 443; 7. Oelwein 510.
Crestwood individual scores for the 18-hole meet included: Ashley Voves 104, Hailey Panos 105, Kryslynn Ruppert 117, Megan Ferrie 121, Haley Martin 125, Isabella Lehmkuhl 117.
“We were sixth as a team in the conference scoring a 443 for 18 holes,” Cadet Coach Jason Sorenson said. “I think we got a little tired, but it is good practice to get 18 holes in before our regional meet (on May 15).
“Hailey Panos was 14th earning all-conference by shooting 105, and Ashley Voves was 12th earning all-conference with a 104. We need to realize that each shot matters, but you can only control one at a time. We have the rest of the week to clean up our short game to help us compete. I'm proud of their attitude and efforts,” Sorenson said.
