Crestwood boy golfers lose to NH; down Turkey Valley, Fillmore Central

NEW HAMPTON - A solid effort by the Crestwood boys’ golf team against New Hampton came up short as the Chickasaws edged the Cadets, 166-182, on May 3 in New Hampton.
“The boys got off to a hesitant start but rebounded to put together a 182, which was nine strokes better than our nine-hole competitive average heading into New Hampton,” Cadet Coach Justin Thrailkill said. “It was the first day of the season where there was enough moisture in the ground to have some reception in the greens.
“A well-struck golf ball was more likely to hold its ground. Moisture also required some of our players to adapt some fine motor adjustments in contact with the ball and ground.  We adjusted well and put up a good fight against a tough New Hampton team,” Thrailkill said.
Landen Bergan led the Cadets with a round of 42. Other Crestwood scores included: Brett Panos 45, Aaron Randak 46, Ashton McConnell 49, Lawson Erickson 53, Keagan Wemark 64.

CRESCO - Facing Turkey Valley at home on May 7, the Crestwood boys’ golf team chalked up a 189-236 win over the Trojans.
Landen Bergan tallied a 40 to earn medalist honors for the Cadets.
“We have entered into our end of the season stretch,” Thrailkill said. “We’re collectively scoring at or better than individual averages.  Landen Bergan carded his season best (40) to win medalist honors. Aaron Randak and Brett Panos were co-runner ups carding a 48.
“Landen is playing excellent and relaxed golf.  He appears to be unphased by the mental strength golf demands to perform well in competition.  Mental strength and perseverance are characteristics that will take a player far in competition,” the coach said.
Cadet varsity scores included: Bergan 40, Randak 48, Panos 48, Ashton McConnell 53, Lawson Erickson 53, Keagan Wemark 53.
