Crestwood boys’ wrestling team revels in excellent season

CRESCO - The 2022-23 Crestwood boys’ wrestling season might not go into the books as the most successful season in school history, but it will go down as a pretty darn exciting and good one.
The Cadets posted a stellar 16-5 overall dual meet record, which included two losses to eventual Class 2A State Champion Osage, placed first at the District and Flanagan Tournaments, second at the NEIC, Aplington and Team Region Dual Tourneys and qualified seven individuals for the State Tournament.
The State Qualifiers included: Mitchell Schmauss, 41-3 record, seventh place, 106 pounds; Carter Schmauss, 37-12, eighth, 113; Ryan Wilson, 24-22, 132; Cade Korsmo, 32-12, 138; Cole Butikofer, 42-5, second, 160; Brock Voyna, 35-9, 182; and Drew Jackson, 34-14, 220.
Freshmen on the squad included: Owen Korsmo, Carter Schmauss, Jose Lievano, Ashton Keune, Jace Pedretti and Blake Kennedy.
Sophomores included: Mitchell Schmauss, Parker Moser, Ben Jackson, Kole Johnson, Owen Parker, Aidan Skoda, Brock Voyna, Preston McCabe and C. J. Yslas.
Juniors included: Kaleb Adams, Ethin Matt, Cody Kerian, Kole Balvanz, Caden Baca and Tyler Pisney.
Seniors included: Daniel Schwickerath, Cade Korsmo, Lawson Erickson, Ryan Wilson, Ayden Easley, Cole Butikofer and Drew Jackson.
