CRESCO - Competing against Saint Ansgar and North Fayette Valley last Tuesday at home, the Crestwood boys’ track team posted several solid finishes en route to second place overall with 167 points.
The Cadets performed well against good competition Thursday at the MFL-MM Bulldog Invitational as they took first in the team standings with 153 points.
Crestwood meet
The Cadets tallied six golds during their home meet against North Fayette Valley and Saint Ansgar last Tuesday.
Chris Guest won gold in the 100 dash in 12.10 seconds, and he took first in the 110 hurdles in 16.53 seconds. Michael Mashek won gold in the 1600 in 4:53.04.
Spencer Cuvelier nabbed gold in the discus with a toss of 168 feet, 11 inches. Austin McAllister won gold in the long jump at 19 feet, 0.75 inches. The 4x100 team of McAllister, Clayton Ollendieck, Reece Wilson and Cuvelier won gold in 47.07.
“All-in-all, our guys competed well,” Cadet Coach Chris Lentz said. “All the kids worked hard to improve their times and distances. We dropped the stick in the 4x100, but our 4x400 and 4x800 teams had their best times of the season. We are still looking for the right combinations in some of the relay events.
“Spencer threw the discus well to post a personal record for this season (168-11). We’re hoping he keeps improving during the rest of the season. We would like to see Spencer get into the 170-foot range consistently. All of our guys are doing a good job of pushing themselves,” Lentz said.
