Crestwood girls' track team takes second at NEIC, boys place seventh

CHARLES CITY - On a nearly perfect day for a track meet, the Crestwood girls' and boys' track teams both competed hard at the Northeast Iowa Conference Meet on May 7 in Charles City. The Cadet girls' team placed second overall with 114 points. The Crestwood boys' team placed seventh with 27 points. Decorah won both the girls' and boys' team titles.

In the girls' meet, Crestwood's Katie Saner placed first in the 100 dash (12.52 seconds), first in the 200 (26.08) and she won the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 10.5 inches. Ellie Friesen won gold in the 1500 meters in a conference meet record time of 4:38.46. Sharon Goodman won gold in the discus with a throw of 125 feet, 9 inches. The 4x800 relay team of Emily Friesen, Rachel Steffen, Cassidy Ihns and Hope Dohlman took first place in 10:00.08.

In the boys' meet, Logan Albert and Kade Munkel both tied for second place in the high jump at a height of 5 feet, 10 inches. Treyton Burnikel placed fifth in the 400 meters in 56.80 seconds.
