Dennler, three Cadet girls earn basketball honors

CRESCO - Three Crestwood girls took home Northeast Iowa Conference basketball honors for the 2018-19 season while Crestwood Head Coach Dale Dennler was named the Class 3A Region 3 Coach of the Year.
Cadet junior Sharon Goodman nabbed First Team All-NEIC honors, and junior Laken Lienhard was named Second Team All-NEIC. Senior Brooklyn Ferrie grabbed Honorable Mention honors. Goodman was also named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-State First Team, and she was named the Class 3A Player of the Year by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association.
Crestwood finished the season at 15-6 overall, 9-2 in the NEIC and qualified for the Class 3A State Tournament for the eighth time.
Goodman tallied 487 points this season to push her career total to 1,177 points, which puts her fourth in Crestwood’s history among five-on-five players and sixth all-time in school history. Katie Kosters (1996-2000) holds the five-player school mark with 1,397 points. Lori Zeimetz (1979-1983) has the all-time record with 1,519 points.
During the 2018-19 season, Goodman also led the team with 269 rebounds, 23.2 points per game, had 18 assists, 17 steals and a team-high 90 blocks.
Lienhard was second in total points with 193, led the team with 32 three-pointers, had 89 rebounds, was first in assists with 102 and had a team-high 24 steals. Ferrie scored 82 points, had 70 rebounds, 37 assists and 11 steals.
