Five Cadet boys qualify for State Wrestling Tournament

OSAGE - The Crestwood boys’ wrestling team turned in several strong performances at the Class 2A District 6 Tournament in Osage on Saturday, Feb. 10 as the Cadets finished second overall with 153.5 points and qualified five individuals for the State Tournament, which starts at 9 a.m. on Feb. 14 and runs through Feb. 17 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Mitchell Schmauss (113) and Carter Schmauss (120) both nabbed first in their respective weight classes to punch their tickets to State. Owen Korsmo (106), Tyler Pisney (165) and Brock Voyna (175) all finished second to earn a trip to State. Mitchell Schmauss will be making his third trip to State while Carter Schmauss and Brock Voyna will be competing in Des Moines for the second time.
“Overall as a team, we competed very well!” Cadet Boys’ Head Coach Keith Anderlik said. “Anytime you have nine of the 13 guys competing place in the top three, it's a good day!"
