No. 1 Crestwood girls hammer Anamosa, return to State Tournament!

OELWEIN - The Cadet girls' basketball team is heading back to State!

The Class 3A No. 1 Crestwood raced to a 14-0 lead midway through the first period during Saturday's Region 4 Final against Anamosa and never looked in the rearview mirror again as the Cadets destroyed the Anamosa Raiders, 77-45, to earn their seventh trip to the State Basketball Tournament in Crestwood's history.

Crestwood qualified for State in Girls' Basketball in 1995, 1997, 2003, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018.

The Cadets (23-0), who will be the No. 1 seed at the State Tournament, will face No. 8 seed South Tama (15-9) in the Class 3A first round at State at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The winner of this game will play either Davenport Assumption (16-8) or North Polk (21-3) in the semifinals at 5 p.m. on March 1. In the lower half of the Class 3A bracket, Clear Lake (22-2) will play Monticello (19-5), and Sioux Center (22-2) will face Red Oak (21-2). The championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on March 3.
