Ryan Steffen wins State Wrestling Championship!

DES MOINES - Crestwood senior Ryan Steffen, ranked No. 6 going into the State Wrestling Tournament, pinned No. 4 Austin Rozeboom of Boyden Hull-Rock Valley in the championship match at 145 pounds at 3:16 in the second period to earn an Individual State Championship Saturday at the Class 2A State Tourney at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The win gave Steffen his first State Title at Crestwood, and gave Cresco its 66th Individual State Champion.

Steffen advanced to the championship match Saturday by winning a 6-5 decision over previous No. 1 Noah Fye of NH-TV in the quarterfinals, and he won a 6-4 decision over former No. 2 Tanner Abbas of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in the semifinals.

Earlier on Saturday, Cadet junior Kaden Anderlik (120 pounds) and junior Colter Bye (160) both won their consolation matches. Both grapplers placed seventh individually. Crestwood's Jacob Knutson competed hard at 285 pounds at State, but he did not place in the top eight.
