Seven TV gridders nab honors

JACKSON JUNCTION - Seven Turkey Valley football players earned Eight-player All-District 2 honors for the 2017 season.

Cale Reicks, a senior defefensive back; and Will Einwalter, a senior split end, were both named First Team All-District for the Trojans. 

Turkey Valley players named to the Second Team included: Ethan Leibold, sophomore, quarterback; and Braeden Baumler, senior, defensive end. Sophomore Kannon Leuenberger earned Honorable Mention.

Cale Reicks was also named First Team Academic All-District. Trojans who earned Honorable Mention Academic All-District included: Jason Herold, junior; and Jose Tinajero Lule, junior.

Riceville won the District 2 regular season title with a record of 6-0 and Janesville took second at 4-2. The rest of the standings included: Northwood-Kensett 4-2, Turkey Valley 3-3, AGWSR 3-3, Clarksville 1-5, North Iowa 0-6.

Will Einwalter led the Trojans in rushing this season with 530 yards and seven touchdowns on 82 carries, good for an average of 6.5 yards per carry. He also had 21 pass receptions for 677 yards and 12 touchdowns, and he led the team in total points with 140. On defense, Einwalter had 41.5 tackles, including 33 solo stops, and he had two interceptions.

Cale Reicks tallied 465 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 70 carries, good for an average of 6.6 yards per carry. Reicks also had 28 pass receptions for 418 yards and 10 touchdowns. Defensively, Reicks led the Trojans with 99.5 tackles, including 63 solo stops, and he had five interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. Reicks also had 20 kickoff returns for 398 yards.

Ethan Leibold completed 61 of 112 pass attempts for 1295 yards, 24 touchdowns and had three interceptions. He also gained 136 yards rushing and scored four touchdowns. On defense, Leibold had 62.5 tackles.

Braeden Baumler gained 380 yards rushing and scored eight touchdowns. He also had five pass receptions for 52 yards. On defense, Baumler had 34.5 tackles.

Kannon Leuenberger recorded 53 total tackles.
