DECORAH - Crestwood junior Kinze Shea grabbed gold in the 3000 meters (11:08.59 seconds) and the 1500 (5:20.03) during the Decorah Girls’ Track Invite held on Thursday, April 6.
The Cadets’ 4x200 relay team of Charley Curtis, Olivia Johnson, Isabella Schlatter and Lily Troendle also took first in a time of 1:54.54.
As a team, Crestwood placed sixth overall with 59 points. Decorah won the team title with 174 points.
“We had a pretty good night for our first outdoor meet,” Crestwood Head Coach Karen Steffen said. “Kinze Shea looked great and handily won both the 3000 and 1500. She is zoned in on what she has to do to get even better.
“The 4x200 relay team ran well to place first. Each girl ran a great split time, and handoffs looked pretty good. Lily ran a strong anchor leg to eke out a first place finish at the line.
“In the long jump, Isabella Schlatter jumped her personal best of 15-6 and placed fifth. She is really focusing on the little things to improve her performance. The 4x800 relay team of Laney Peter, Ryleigh Myers, Jaylee Vobr and Cloey Horns grabbed a third place finish.
“The Junior Varsity athletes had some impressive performances including: Emma Godman, fifth in the 100 hurdles; Tierney Perkins, fifth in the 200 dash; and Rose Niewoehner, seventh in the shot put.
“There was some fourth place finishes on varsity that were just out of medal contention including: sprint medley (Aubrey Mannery, Olivia Johnson, Charley Curtis and Olivia Ollendick); shuttle hurdle (Ella Bergan, Lily Troendle, Heidi Mahr and Tara Koshatka); Curtis in the 100 dash; and the 4x400 relay team (Ollendick, Troendle, Laney Peter and Ryleigh Myers),” Steffen said.
