Turkey Valley boys sweep MFL-MM, lose twice to South Winn

 

JACKSON JUNCTION - The Turkey Valley baseball team turned in two solid performances against MFL-Mar-Mac on June 11 at home as the Trojans swept the Bulldogs, 10-0 (five innings) and 8-0.
Playing a twinbill at home against South Winn on June 12, the Trojans stumbled as they lost both games, 1-8 and 1-13.

In game one, the Trojans took a 7-0 lead after two innings and sailed to a 10-0 win over MFL-MM in five innings.
“This is what a box score looks like when you do all three phases of the game well,” TV Coach Dan Stepan said.
Cale Reicks tallied three hits, including one double, had three runs scored, two runs batted in and two stolen bases. Elliott Dietzenbach had two hits, one run and two RBI. Simon Schmitt had two hits, including one double, and four RBI.
Mason Goerend had one double and one run. Evan Drilling tallied one hit and three runs. Jordon Snyder had one double. Keegan Balk had one RBI. Kyle Langreck and Eli Nymeyer each scored one run.
Jordon Snyder earned the win. He pitched five innings, allowed four hits, no walks and struck out five.

In game two, the Trojans plated four runs in the first inning on their way to an 8-0 win over the Bulldogs.
Dietzenbach posted two hits, two runs and two stolen bases. Cale Reicks had two hits, one run, three RBI and two stolen bases. Snyder had two doubles and three RBI.
Evan Drilling tallied one hit and two runs. Luke Anderson had one hit and one RBI. Dalton Rush had one RBI. Eli Nymeyer scored two runs.
Cale Reicks was the winning pitcher. He went seven innings, allowed one hit, one walk and struck out 11.

In game one, South Winn grabbed a 3-0 lead in the second inning and kept the Trojans in check during an 8-1 win.
“This is what a box score looks like when you have a young pitching staff gaining valuable experience and you play a team with a really good pitching staff that is young and talented,” Stepan said. “South Winn also has a good approach at the plate.”
Evan Drilling had one double and one run. Mason Goerend scored one run. Luke Anderson had one RBI. Keegan Balk tallied two hits. Kyle Langreck had one hit.
Elliott Dietzenbach was the losing pitcher. He went six innings, allowed seven hits, six runs (five earned), two walks and struck out three. Sam Kout went one inning, allowed one hit, three earned runs, walked four and struck out one.

In game two, Turkey Valley took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before South Winn exploded for eight runs in the third on its way to a 13-1 win in four innings.
Evan Drilling posted two singles and one run. Cale Reicks had one single.
Keegan Balk was the losing pitcher. He went two and one-third innings, allowed three hits, five earned runs and six walks. Eli Nymeyer went two-thirds of an inning, allowed three hits, two earned runs and one walk. Kade Kruse pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowed one hit, three earned runs and one walk. Kalvin Langreck faced five batters, gave up two hits, two earned runs and three walks. Garrett Kurtenbach pitched one-third of an inning and struck out one.
