TV boys nipped by Oelwein; lose to D-NH, DB at tournament

 

OELWEIN - Oelwein rallied for three runs in the fifth inning to edge the Turkey Valley baseball team, 9-7, on June 19 in Oelwein.
Playing at the Dike-New Hartford Tournament on June 23, the Trojans lost to Dike-New Hartford, 3-5, in game one; and they fell to Don Bosco, 3-15, in game two.

Turkey Valley held a 7-6 lead in the top of the fifth before Oelwein rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to down the Trojans, 9-7, on June 19.
The Trojans led 3-1 after the first inning before the Huskies tied the game at five-all in the third. Oelwein scored one run in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead before Turkey Valley scored two in the fifth to take a brief 7-6 lead.
Jordon Snyder posted three hits, had one run and one run batted in for TV. Cale Reicks and Simon Schmitt each had one double and one RBI.
Kyle Langreck had one single. Evan Drilling had one double, one run and one RBI. Elliott Dietzenbach had one single and two runs. Mason Goerend scored two runs. Eli Nymeyer had one run.
Elliott Dietzenbach was the losing pitcher. He tossed two innings in relief, allowed four hits, four runs (one earned) and walked one. Starter Kannon Leuenberger went one and two-thirds innings, allowed three hits, three earned runs, three walks and struck out one. Carter Reicks pitched one inning, allowed two runs and struck out one. Cale Reicks pitched one and one-third innings, allowed one hit and struck out one.

D-NH 5, TV 3
In game one of the tourney, Dike-New Hartford broke a one-all tie with three runs in the fourth and held on to beat Turkey Valley, 5-3.
“We played a pretty clean game against a great opponent,” TV Coach Dan Stepan said. 
Mason Goerend tallied two hits, including one double, for the Trojans. Evan Drilling had three hits. Elliott Dietzenbach had one single and one run. Cale Reicks posted one hit and two RBI. Simon Schmitt had one single.
Jordon Snyder was the losing pitcher. He went three innings, allowed three hits, three runs (two earned) and one walk. Josh Vsetecka went one inning, allowed two hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out one. Carter Reicks pitched two innings, allowed two hits, one earned run and one walk.

Don Bosco 15, TV 3
In game two, Don Bosco raced to a 7-0 lead in the top of the second on its way to a 15-3 win over the Trojans.
“We ran into a tough team that hit the ball extremely well,” Stepan said.
Josh Vsetecka tallied two hits, one run and one RBI for TV. Jordon Snyder had one double and two runs scored. Elliott Dietzenbach had one single and one RBI.
Cale Reicks was the losing pitcher. He tossed one and two-thirds innings, allowed five hits, seven runs (five earned) and one walk. Kannon Leuenberger went one inning, allowed two hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out one.
